The Monterey Jazz Festival celebrates the legacy of jazz, expands its boundaries, and provides opportunities to experience jazz through the creative production of performances and educational programs. And now, the Monterey Jazz Festival is pleased to announce the 47th Annual Next Generation Jazz Festival, featuring the nation’s most talented middle school, high school, conglomerate school, and college jazz musicians and vocalists.It features the nation’s most talented middle school, high school, conglomerate school, and college jazz musicians and vocalists.
The free Next Generation Jazz Festival will take place in historic downtown Monterey from March 31-April 2, 2017 and will feature bassist/composer John Clayton, drummer Jeff Hamilton and pianist/composer Gerald Clayton as the 2017 Artists-In-Residence. It is the first time in the Festival’s history that a father and son have been chosen in this role. Between the three of them, they have won or recorded on 12 GRAMMY-winning albums, with an additional 21 nominations.

Wharf Walk – Salmon Fishing on the Monterey Bay

Monterey’s Fisherman’s Wharf Association Continues “Wharf Walks – Walking Tours at Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf” on Saturday, April 1, 2017 with a focus on “Focus on Salmon Fishing in the Monterey Bay”. Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf Association continues to team up with noted Monterey Bay Fisheries Historian and author, Tim Thomas, who is offering monthly “Wharf Walks – Walking Tours at Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf (http://www.montereywharf.com) on the first Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM – Noon.
Wharf Walks will be held on April 1st and the focus will be: “Focus on Salmon Fishing in the Monterey Bay.” Tours meet at the head of Old Fisherman’s Wharf (near the pink “Harbor House” store, #1 Old Fisherman’s Wharf, Monterey. Advance reservations are required by calling Tim Thomas at (831) 521-3304 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The tour is for ages 10-adult only and the cost is $20 for adults and kids are $15 (10-15 years). Group Rates are also available.
Easter Bunny on the Wharf

Hop on over to the Wharf during the first two weekends in April for some Easter Bunny fun! Bring the whole family for a photo op and “meet and greet” with a giant Easter Bunny. Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf is holding a special free “Easter Bunny on the Wharf” event on two upcoming weekends, Saturday and Sunday, April 1st and 2nd and on Saturday and Sunday, April 8th and 9th, 2017.
The hours will be 10 am – 6 pm on April 1st and 8th and 1 pm – 6 pm on Sunday, April 2nd and 9th. Celebrate the Easter holiday on the Wharf!
