How to Pass Time at San Francisco International Airport

Admit it, airlines suck at following their own flight schedules.

A flight delay is a when an airline flight takes off and/or lands later than its scheduled time. A few minutes of flight delay is bearable. But what if the flight delay is an hour or half a day?

Many people have experienced the worst flight delays at one time or another. People are left in the airports with nothing to do and, sometimes, with little apology from the erring airline. As a traveler, I highly opine that it’s already high time any tourist should include planning ahead and knowing how to past time in an airport as part of their itinerary.

The San Francisco International Airport is teeming with tourists everyday. For those who are planning to travel the beautiful San Francisco any time soon, here’s a list of fun things to kill boredom in the airport.

1. Pack your own fun

Australian tourists arrive with the first Australian special charter flight from Cairo at the Frankfurt airport

Stash fun items in your carry on like a laptop or portable DVD. If you’re traveling with friends or family, fun card games or board games are a good idea.

2. Pack a good book or an e-reader

Curl up with your favorite book or catch up with some much needed reading. Play with a crossword puzzle or entertain yourself with your favorite Marvel comics.

3. Eat or drink to your heart’s content

Indulge yourself with fast food at restaurants lining up at San Francisco O like Burger King or Subway. Try a foreign cuisine or hit  up the bar at Anchor Brewing Company or Yankee Pier.  Just Desserts is the airport’s sweet tooth haven.

4. Take advantage of the airline’s VIP lounge for a quieter atmosphere and complimentary snacks to kill time at San Francisco O

Free access to the VIP lounge is generally related to your frequent flier status and the perks that you possess. But if you are not a frequent traveler, most airport VIP lounges will let you purchase one-day passes for admittance.

5. Shop or browse the stores

Forgot to buy a loved one a gift? Browse through the many shops in the airport and consider buying something with a San Francisco theme. Buy something for yourself too! It never hurts to treat yourself to something nice to put you in a good mood for your flight.

These are only a few possible thing you can do in the airport. I’m sure you’re already popping with your own ideas about how to past time in the airport should your flight get delayed. What other past time activities do you suggest? Share with us your ideas.
