AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am

via zimbio

Calling all golf enthusiasts out there! Here’s an awesome news that will definitely excite you – the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is set off to kick start this February 9!

So what’s the fuss about this event?

Well, first of all, the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour which evolved out of the Bing Crosby clambake, an annual get-together where some of the best professional golfers and a mix of A-list actors, musicians, comedians, and generally wealthy and famous individuals played golf and got drunk for a few days on the Monterey Peninsula. It is held annually at Pebble Beach, California, near Monterey. The tournament is typically held during the month of February, and for this year it will be held on February 9 – 15. This annual golf tournament features an all-star lineup of both pros and celebrities. Yes, you heard me right! This is a star-studded event making it as much fun for serious duffers as it is autograph seekers and star gazers.

You’ve probably heard or read about this event (it is a popular one, after all) but here’s a little FYI for you. The starting field consists of 156 professionals and 156 amateurs. One professional is paired with one amateur. Each day, 52 2-man teams will play on one of the three courses. Then on the final day, those professionals and pro-amateur teams making the 54-hole cut will play on the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Only professionals may compete in the individual competition part of the tournament. Amateurs are restricted to playing only in the pro-amateur team competition.

Planning to attend the event? Whether your a golf enthusiast to the very core of your being or you just want to catch a glimpse of famous celebrities, here’s a guide to help you out.

Tickets for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am practice rounds are sold at $50 when bought before February 7 and $60 when bought after February 7 for all three days, Monday through Wednesday.

Tickets for the tournament rounds, held Thursday through Sunday, are sold sold at $50 per day before February 7 and sold at $60 after February 7. Children 12 and under are admitted free alongside an adult ticket holder. There are also packages available. You can buy the tickets online and know more about their packages here.

If you’re a member of law enforcement, a firefighter or a military personnel you, plus one accompanied guest,  will be admitted free of charge from Monday-Wednesday. Just present your active official department ID or badge at any ticket booth.

The Best Position

The grandstands at the 18th hole are always popular spots from which to watch the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Two other recommended spots for viewing the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am are the tee box on the 13th hole, and the grandstand by the 17th green, which allows spectators to both watch players coming up the 17th hole and see them tee off on the 18th.

Catching Celebrities

Gotta catch’em all!

Of course, some of us are here for the celebrities as much as we’re here for golf. I suggest you get tickets for the AT&T tournament’s practice round if you want get celebrity autographs or celebrity snapshots. The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am does not allow autographs and picture taking during the tournament rounds. It’s easiest to get autographs and snapshots on Monday when competition has not yet started and everybody is still at ease.

What to Bring and What Not to Bring

You won’t be able to enjoy the tournament if you’re wearing the wrong kind of clothing (this will totally make you feel uncomfortable and distracted) and you won’t be able to get that celebrity memento if you can’t even get admitted just because inadvertently brought a contraband to the tournament site. It is therefore very important to know what to bring and what not to bring during the event. Get important Insider’s scoop on the tournament essentials (and contraband for that matter) here. Make sure to read and not miss out on this one!

Want to know more about the event? Head over here. See you around the tees!

Are you staying in Monterey Bay during the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am? Are you looking for a local place to accommodate you? Come and stay with us here in Munras Inn!
